DELLA ROSE HILL

Her life, wisdom was a blessing to all

Della Rose Hill's obituary, perfectly reflecting the woman herself, was beautiful and inspiring. (The obituary can be accessed online at www.legacy.com/HeraldNet/DeathNotices.asp by searching her name.) Trying to describe this giant of a woman is a daunting task; how do you adequately sum up the life of someone who was literally all things to all people?

Della was one of the pioneers in the chemical dependency field; I was a young counselor when she was already established as an expert. If there was a problem, you just automatically called Della. She knew everyone, where to turn and what to do. If it could be solved, she would solve it.

Rooming with Della at the yearly Warm Beach Chemical Dependency Conference was a much desired gift. Two days later, the lucky person would speak of spiritual renewal and sometimes, emotional healing. I will always remember her wisdom, quiet strength and loving spirit. Her life was truly a blessing to everyone she touched.
