Teens arrested for burglary of Mountlake Terrace convenience store

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Four teenagers were arrested early Sunday after allegedly breaking into a Mountlake Terrace convenience store.

The burglary occurred around 2:40 a.m. in the 4800 block of 212th Street SW, Mountlake Terrace police Sgt. Doug Hansen said.

A neighbor heard noises and called 911, he said.

When officers arrived, the boys fled. A police dog caught one boy, another gave himself up and two more escaped but later turned themselves in, Hansen said.

The boys were between the ages of 16 and 17 and one was from Brier and three from Bothell.

The teens had purchased gloves and bags, apparently tools for the break-in. They were aiming to steal food and cigarettes, Hansen said.

All the boys were arrested for investigation of burglary. Because of a lack of criminal histories, the boys were released to their parents.

The Snohomish County prosecutor’s office will determine charges.
