The 10 best wines to enjoy with oysters
If you've been wondering what wine will best wash down those oysters you're slurping off the half shell, the folks at Taylor Shellfish Farms in Shelton have some suggestions.
And not just suggestions, but winners of an annual competition sponsored by Taylor.
Some 41 food and wine writers, restaurateurs, retailers, and oyster growers gathered in April in Los Angeles and San Francisco and at Anthony's HomePort at Shilshole Bay in Seattle to select winners during the monthlong Pacific Coast Oyster Wine Competition.
Not just any white wine will go with oysters, with their combination of minerals, sweetness and the sea.
Taylor Shellfish Farms invited West Coast wineries to submit their best "oyster wines," typically dry, crisp, clean-finishing white wines.
Each wine is blind-tasted with at least one Kumamoto oyster. The judge chews the oyster well, sips the wine and rates the wine's affinity with the oyster.
Scores from the 41 judges in the three-city final judging panels were combined to determine the 2009 "Oyster Award" winners, listed alphabetically here for your slurping and sipping pleasure.

Anne Amie Vineyards Cuvee A Amrita 2007 White Wine (Oregon)
