When you get to Alaska, say hello to Sarah

Tell the tourists where to go: The Snohomish County Visitor Information Center is looking for volunteers to answer the queries of tourists and recommend local things to see and do. If nothing else, volunteers may hear an amusing question, like how to find the bridge to Alaska.

We wouldn't make a very good guide; we'd just tell them to head north until they could see Russia.

Tattoo you: A new state law requires licensing and other requirements for tattoo and body-piercing salons, including standards for sterilizing equipment.

Judging by some of the tattoos we've seen, a spelling test would also be a good idea.

Get thee to a nunnery: The city of Woodway may soon ask voters if it should spend $6.2 million to buy a grand estate that has been home for an order of nuns for 53 years. If purchased, the mansion could serve as the city's town hall.

As part of the sale, the nuns have said they will leave behind a supply of rulers that can be used to rap the knuckles of City Council members who fail to follow Robert's Rules of Order.
