Nuts and bolts
Show's a disaster: "Disaster House," a new TV show coming to the DIY Network this winter, is searching for "surprising and unusual" home disasters in Everett and the surrounding areas.
Each 30-minute episode will show simulations of accidental and natural catastrophes done to a "disaster house" in Denver. Construction experts will demonstrate the best way to repair the damage.
Each episode will also feature a "Disaster of the Week," showcasing one homeowner's personal story of an unusual disaster in their own home.
Homeowners must provide photos or videos of the disaster and be eager to share their stories in a phone interview. Contact casting coordinator Chad Swift at 303-712-3267 or write cswift@highnoon entertainment.com to share your story.
Save the date: The Gardens of Merit Tour, a fundraiser for the Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens in Everett, will feature six private gardens in Everett from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 27 on a self-guided tour.
Tickets are $10 and are available at J. Matheson and Pacific Stone Co. in Everett, Sunnyside Nursery in Marysville, Emery's Garden in Lynnwood, and at the arboretum on the day of the sale. Tickets are also available online at www.evergreen arboretum.com/tickets.asp.
There will be a plant sale at the arboretum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 27 at 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett. Call the arboretum's message line at 425-257-8597 with questions.
