'Next To Normal' Tony worthy?
The coveted Tony Awards. This year, when they're handed out on June 7, our local Village Theatre might just collect one or two.
The nominees for this highly competitive nod to theatrical excellence includes "Next To Normal," a new musical that got its start in Village Theatre's Village Originals program.
"Next to Normal" received 11 nominations that include Best Musical, Best Book of A Musical, Best Original Score and Best Direction of a Musical.
Brian Yorkey, formerly Village Theatre's associate artistic director, was nominated for his work as book writer and lyricist.
Yorkey's relationship with Village Theatre runs deep. A graduate of Issaquah High School, Yorkey is a Village Theatre KIDSTAGE alum.
"Next To Normal" was formerly called "Feeling Electric" and began as a staged reading at Village Theatre in March 2002.
