Filing extended for unfilled elected offices

EVERETT -- A local school district, parks district and sewer district failed to attract any candidates during the regular filing period last week, so the Snohomish County Elections Division plans to give people a second chance.

The special three-day filing period begins Wednesday at 9 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. Friday. To file, go to the auditor's office on the first floor of the county administration building at 3000 Rockefeller Ave. in Everett.

These positions are open: Lakewood School District No. 306 district 2 director; two at-large commissioners for the East County Park & Recreation District; and positions No. 1 and No. 2 on the Jordan Village Sewer District.

During the regular filing period from June 1 through 5, 295 people entered local races for public office.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to go to the Snohomish County Elections Web site at www.snoco.org/elections. For more information, call 425-388-3444.
