Famed preacher chooses daughter to lead ministry

What some saw as a succession drama at the Crystal Cathedral may have finally come to an end.

Famed Rev. Robert H. Schuller, founder of the megachurch in Orange County, Calif., and longtime host of the "Hour of Power" TV show, announced Thursday that his eldest daughter would take over the leadership role of the ministry.

Sheila Schuller Coleman, 58, is already a top minister at the Crystal Cathedral and runs the "Ask Shelia" blog.

Last October, Schuller surprised some outsiders by ousting his son, Robert A. Schuller, from the leadership of the ministry.

"It is no secret to any of you that my son, Robert, and I have been struggling as we each have different ideas as to the direction and the vision for this ministry," he said. "For this lack of shared vision and the jeopardy in which this is placing this entire ministry, it has become necessary for Robert and me to part ways."
