Prison for former UW basketball star

SEATTLE -- Former University of Washington basketball star Doug Wrenn has been sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison for threatening two people with a handgun during a road-rage incident in Bellevue in March of 2008.

Prosecutors had recommended a 14-month sentence for the 29-year-old Wrenn, who was convicted by a jury Feb. 6 of two counts of second-degree assault.

A 6-foot-6 forward, Wrenn led O'Dea High School of Seattle to a state championship in 1997. He played two seasons at Washington. As a sophomore, he averaged 19.5 points and was voted first-team all-Pac-10 by conference coaches following the 2001-02 season. His scoring average dropped to 12.7 points his junior season under first-year coach Lorenzo Romar, and Wrenn chose to forego his senior season to declare for the NBA draft. He wasn't drafted.

Wrenn last played in South Korea in December 2007.
