WVSO welcomes back the NW Legends

It was a fun filled Father’s Day weekend at WVSO. Racing this weekend was the Youth Hornets, the B-Modifieds, and back for the second time this season, the NW Legends.

Fast times for the night included the #61 Youth Hornet of Thomas Stanford at 16.748. For the NW Legends it was the #6 of Matt Henderson at 14.763. Setting a new track record for the B-Modifieds was the #99 of Shane Mitchell at 12.682.

Winners for the Les Schwab Trophy Dashes were the #22 Youth Hornet of Courtney Dietrich and the #61 of Thomas Stanford. In the NW Legends it was the #2 of Jesse Branham and the #34 of Don Milborne. B-Modified trophy winners included the #3 of Ricky Allen and the #2 of Mike Roberts.

The Youth Hornets started the Heat Race action with the #22 of Courtney Dietrich and the #61 of Thomas Stanford taking the wins for the second time tonight. NW Legend winners included the #1 of Garrett Sisk and the #29 of Bob Kronenberg. The #70 of Kim Wennerberg and the #63 of Gary Shales were winners in the B-Modified races.

It was a 30 lap Main Event for the Youth20Hornets. Starting on the pole was the #22 of Courtney Dietrich. By lap 3 the #61 of Thomas Stanford takes the lead. On lap 18 the yellow flag is flown for an incident in turn 2 involving the #64 of Stephanie Evans, the #68 of Bart Hector, and the #7 of Ryker Agnew, with all three cars spinning. By lap 20 the #9 of Brandon Shrader takes second place. Out in front and taking the checkered flag was the #61 of Thomas Stanford from East Wenatchee. Placing 2nd was the #9 of Brandon Shrader from Wenatchee. Coming in 3rd, a young lady who had a great night of racing, #22 Courtney Dietrich from Chelan.

Running their National Qualifier Race was the NW Legends. Starting on the pole was the #6 of Matt Henderson. By lap 11 the leader began lapping cars in this fast paced race. By lap 20 it was still the #6 of Henderson in the lead. The yellow flag flies on lap 25 as cars #17 of Jon Vangesen and #99 of Aaron Stowe spin in turn 1. As the checkered flag flies, the winner, who took the race from start to finish, is the #6 of Matt Henderson from Port Orchard, WA. Finishing 2nd was the #29 of Bob Kronenberg from Shelton, WA. Placing 3rd was the #1 of Garrett Sisk of Yakima, WA. What great racing from the NW Legends. We look forward to seeing you back at WVSO on August 1.

The final Main Event of the night was a 50 lap race for the B-Modifieds. Starting20on the pole was the #31 of Chad Holaday. By lap 5 the #31 of Holaday and the #20 of Kevin Dietrich are running neck and neck. On lap 10 the new leader is the #20 of Dietrich, and creeping up through the pack is the #99 of Shane Mitchell. Out comes the yellow on lap 20 as the #63 of Gary Shales spins into the grass on the back stretch. By lap 26 the #99 of Mitchell takes the lead. As laps tick away, and the sun sets over the hills above WVSO, the bright orange and yellow #99 of Shane Mitchell rises to the occasion and takes the checkered flag. The #2 of Mike Roberts finishes 2nd with the #20 of Kevin Dietrich finishing third.
