Massive Student Loans Causing National Economic Headache

The U.S. Department of Education estimates that the average undergraduate student is carrying more than $22,000 in debt. Sudden changes in lenders' terms and rates are threatening to turn the loans tens of millions of Americans who rely on student loans into a national financial sinkhole.

NOW on PBS follows the story of a single mother in Baltimore trying to dig herself out of more than $70,000 in student loans.
