DRUG USE

Where is outrage over race driver?

Your June 18 article, "NASCAR's drug tester disputes Mayfield's 'allergy' claim," brought to mind the similarities/differences in the treatment of these celebrities in the two scenarios of drug use -- one involving Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Micheal Phelps, the other NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield.

Phelps came out right away and apologized for being photographed with a bong and they still took away his Kellogg's cereal contract.

His reputation was trashed.

And then NASCAR kept what Mayfield was high on a secret until it was revealed a month later that he was driving his 300 mph race car on meth. And still the average American has never even heard about Mayfield's use of meth.

Double standard? Me thinks so!

Where is all the outrage from the NASCAR parents?
