See historic schooners, or even climb aboard
Visitors to the Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival have a chance to climb aboard the 133-foot historic schooner Adventuress, built in 1913, during free dockside tours Saturday and Sunday on South Lake Union.
Adventuress is owned and operated by nonprofit Sound Experience, celebrating its 20th year.
Additional happenings aboard Adventuress include a family-friendly front row seat for Seattle's Fourth of July fireworks.
Fire & Ice is a dockside fundraiser aboard Adventuress to support onboard programs for Seattle-area youths in foster care. For $35 a person, guests aboard the ship can watch the fireworks show 8 to 11 p.m. July Fourth, while enjoying ice cream from Lopez Island Creamery.
The historic schooners Adventuress and Zodiac will sail together from 3 to 7 p.m. July 5 in Lake Washington to cap the Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival.
Guests aboard Adventuress will enjoy the dual-schooner show while enjoying an array of appetizers and desserts. The cost is $75 a person. Families will be welcome and drinks will be nonalcoholic. Both ships depart from and return to the Center for Wooden Boats on Lake Union.

The Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival offers free rides on various vessels, toy-boat building, a treasure hunt, coloring contests and sidewalk chalk art for kids.
Boatbuilders will demonstrate their craft, and teams will build boats in 24 hours, and then race them.
