Barbecue to benefit volunteer firefighters

Enjoy a barbecue beginning at 10 a.m. Friday in Granite Falls.

It benefits the Robe Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

The party is at Green Gables General Store, 32518 Mountain Loop Highway. Blue Stilly Coffee Roasters will be there selling coffee.



Holiday closures: Here are some scheduled closures and changes for Friday and Saturday, the Fourth of July:

Government: Federal, state and local offices are closed both days.

Schools: Closed.

Post offices: Open Friday, closed Saturday, although express mail service continues.

Commerce: Everett and Alderwood malls are open both days. Check your bank branch for hours.

Transportation: Community Transit is on a Sunday schedule Friday, and a regular schedule Saturday. Everett Transit is on a regular schedule Friday and on a Sunday schedule Saturday. For ferry information, go to www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries or call 888-808-7977.

The Herald: The delivery deadline is 7:30 a.m. Classified advertising and the front lobby are closed both days. Call in obituaries from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at 425-339-3023. Customer service for home delivery is open from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.
