Front Porch: Donations needed for community yard sale

Donations are needed for a community yard sale planned for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 11 in Lynnwood.

The sale will be held at First Baptist Church of Martha Lake at 17319 Larch Way. Proceeds benefit children at Martha Lake Elementary School who need help purchasing their school supplies in the fall.

Donations of good used or new clothing, housewares, home decorations, furniture, toys, tools, etc. can be dropped off at the church between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays before July 10.

Holiday closures

Here are some scheduled closures and changes for Friday and Saturday for the Fourth of July holiday:

Government: Federal, state and local offices are closed both days.

Schools: Closed.

Post offices: Open Friday, closed Saturday, although express mail service continues.

Commerce: Everett and Alderwood malls are open both days. Check your bank branch for hours.

Transportation: Community Transit is on a Sunday schedule Friday, and a regular schedule Saturday. Everett Transit is on a regular schedule Friday and on a Sunday schedule Saturday. For ferry information, go to www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries or call 888-808-7977.

The Herald: The delivery deadline is 7:30 a.m. Classified advertising and the front lobby are closed both days. Call in obituaries from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at 425-339-3023. Customer service for home delivery is open from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m.
