Man linked to bank robbery shot by Seattle police

SEATTLE -- Seattle police say a detective shot and wounded a man linked to a bank robbery as that man slammed into several vehicles in a stolen pickup truck.

Assistant Seattle Police Chief Nick Metz said Wednesday that police had been on the lookout for a silver Dodge Ram pickup after it was linked to a bank robbery north of Seattle.

An officer began trailing the truck in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood and multiple police cars moved to box it in. When the pickup driver reacted by ramming a patrol car, a detective fired four shots, hitting the man in the arm.

Officers say the man then smashed into a nearby SUV, which was carrying a man and his two small children. The three were taken to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries. Police say no officers were injured.

Metz says police believe the man has committed several bank robberies and they considered him dangerous. He was taken to Harborview with non-life-threatening injuries.
