Seems like yesterday

50 YEARS AGO (1959)

Perry Wiggum returned from the Red Cross aquatic school in Hayden Lake, Idaho, bearing with him his accomplishments as a first aid instructor, in first aid leadership and first aid seminar. At the school, Wiggum was in charge of transportation and fire prevention work.

Skymotive Inc. at Snohomish Airfield offered scenic rides, charter service, air taxi and ambulance and invalid service, in addition to flying lessons. Owners Henry Strauch, Chester Strauch and Ralph Williamson had two Cesna 150 airplanes for the business.

25 YEARS AGO (1984)

Part of the movie "Kisses at 50" (later changed to "Twice in a Lifetime"), starring Gene Hackman, Ann-Margaret and Ellen Burstyn, would be filmed in downtown Snohomish sometime between July 16 and Sept. 7. People lined up at the Snohomish VFW Hall for some of the 800 extras to be hired for the filming. The paper mill in Everett also would appear in the film.

The raspberry harvest was expected to begin in Snohomish County fields this week. County Extension Agent Rick Reisinger said the raspberries were right on schedule.
