MUKILTEO FERRY

Everett perfect for multi-modal hub

I concur with a June 21 letter writer that Mukilteo should be left to be the sleepy seaside community they are fighting to be. ("Build ferry dock in North Everett.")

North Everett would be the perfect site for the multi-modal transit hub. The Clinton ferry could dock in North Everett and cars would have easy access to I-5 and commuters would have easy access to train and bus. Mukilteo would be able to reclaim its waterfront. As a homeowner in north Everett, I support the commerce such a multi-modal hub would bring to our waterfront.

Now that the proposed Port Gardner Wharf project has gone bankrupt, the city of Everett could still connect our waterfront with the rest of the city by supporting a multi-modal hub. We could still have the restaurants and other shops but now we would have a dedicated stream of customers for this area, unlike the Port Gardner Wharf project. Mukilteo is fighting to move the ferry terminal and Everett should be fighting to embrace it.
