Koppenberg finishes 12th at Sahalee Players Championship

REDMOND -- Everett's Jake Koppenberg shot a 4-over par 76 Friday to finish in a tie for twelfth place at the Sahalee Players Championship at Sahalee Country Club.

Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C., a member of the University of Washington men's golf team and the world's top-ranked amateur player, shot a 1-over 73 on the final day for a one-stroke win over Australian national team member Daniel Nisbet. Taylor finished the championship at 6-under 282.

Koppenberg, who recently completed an All-America career at Western Washington University, shot a 5-under 67 and led the tournament following the first day of competition, but faded with rounds of 75, 74 and 76 to close the championship. Koppenberg ended at 4-over 292.

Taylor holed a 15-foot birdie putt on the 18th to seal the victory. Nisbet, of Caboolture, Australia, also birded the 18th to close with a 5-under 283.
