Brush fire briefly closes I-5 offramp at Mountlake Terrace

Slowdowns remain because of smoke

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE -- A brush fire earlier this evening closed the offramp from northbound I-5 to 220th Street SW and blocked the right lane of the freeway.

Fire crews were called after 5 p.m. and knocked down the fire quickly, state Department of Transportation spokeswoman Sandy Lam said.

“There is a lot of smoke, so many people are slowing down,” she said.

The fire was burning in the area between the offramp and the freeway.
