Merchants win at Kamloops tourney

Kyle Long pitched a seven-inning complete game and Donnie Treat hit a two-run double for the Everett Merchants in a 3-0 win over the Red Deer Riggers at the Kamloops Tournament in Kamloops, B.C.

Long struck out just two Red Deer batters, but the Merchants defense didn't commit an error in support of Long's solid outing.

Treat hit his two-run double in a three-run third inning for the Merchants. Zach Miller added an RBI double in the inning.

Chris Sturdivant batted 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and Kevin Rodland batted 2-for-3 also with two stolen bases for Everett.

The Merchants play the Kelowna Jays at noon today and can clinch at least a third-place finish with a win.
