HEALTH CARE

We deserve choice of public option

Rep. Rick Larsen has some pretty good health insurance. It’s probably one of the best insurance plans in the world. So why should we be OK with him keeping it all to himself? I’m not. Our private health insurance needs help. Premiums are increasing while the benefits of most plans are going down.

Then there are those Americans who don’t have a plan at all. If I go in to visit my doctor there is a cap on what he can charge me. If a non-insured person goes to visit the doctor, they are charged more than the cap I pay. This is particularly true of visits to the emergency room.

We have a chance this fall to make a real change that will help everyone. Let’s rein in the premium cost of health care, offer coverage to everyone, and cap doctors’ fees equally. Pass health care for all this year! If a public health insurance plan works for Rick Larsen, every American should have a public health insurance option if they want it.
