Everett: Trinity hires new director
Trinity Lutheran College in downtown Everett has appointed John Reed as its executive director. He begins his new duties today.
His chief responsibilities will be overseeing college marketing and student recruitment efforts. He will lead the college's administrative council and provide leadership for daily operations.
“We are delighted that John Reed will join our staff and continue the positive momentum we've experienced since adding new academic programs and moving to Everett,” said Jeff Mallinson, academic dean.
Trinity relocated from Issaquah to downtown Everett last fall and has added four new majors in the past five years.
Everett: Come out for night-sky viewing
Join the experts from the Everett Astronomical Society to view the heavens Friday and Saturday evenings at Harborview Park in Everett. Bring binoculars and sky charts, if you have them. Telescopes will be set up for closer viewing of the stars. Drop in between 7 and 11:30 p.m.

A Great Garden Garage and Plant Sale is set for this weekend at Legion Memorial Park and Arboretum. Find garden tools, plants and household items. Hot dogs and drinks cost $1. The sale runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Edmonds: Lady Washington sailing
The public gets a third opportunity to sail aboard the State of Washington's official ship, the Lady Washington, with a 3-hour sailing at 6 p.m. Friday. The scheduled adventure sail includes demonstration of tall-ship handling, a sea shanty, maritime storytelling and a chance to sail. Tickets are $55 for adults, $45 for students, active military and seniors, and $35 for kids under age 12.

Mukilteo: Historical Society meets
The Mukilteo Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Art Room/Basement of Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave. The meeting is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
Snohomish: Repairs done at playground
The playground at Ferguson Park has reopened following a car accident that smashed equipment at its entrance. Repairs at the playground were completed on Thursday.
A woman accidentally reversed into the playground in mid-June, causing about $7,000 in damage. Her insurance paid for the repairs. Nobody was hurt in the accident.
