S.C. Boeing workers vote again on union
CHARLESTON, S.C. Workers at a Boeing Co. plant in South Carolina are reconsidering whether they want union representation as the company considers the plant for a second assembly line for its new 787 jetliner.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports workers at the North Charleston plant vote today on continued representation by the International Association of Machinists.
Aviation analyst Scott Hamilton says he expects workers will vote to decertify the union because the original vote to unionize was close. Hamilton says such a vote would not guarantee the second assembly line.
He says a lot of other things are involved, including training new workers to build an entire airplane.
The results of the vote are expected late today.
