R-71 - you'll be voting though you may not know who made it possible

Posted at 8:08 am by Jerry Cornfield

Voters will get to decide whether to keep the latest upgrade in the state's domestic partnership law.

Washington Families Standing Together decided it will make no more efforts in court to keep Referendum 71 off the ballot.

That leaves one other contentious issue unresolved in the courts - whether the public will get to see all the names and addressess of those who signed the petitions to put the measure on the ballot.

Protect Marriage Washington, sponsors of the referendum, is fighting public disclosure of the names on the contention the signers will be subjected to harassment once their identities are known.

A federal judge is expected to decide the issue Friday.
