Former Rotary bookkeeper charged with theft

SEATTLE — King County prosecutors have charged a former bookkeeper for the Seattle Rotary Service Foundation with 123 counts of theft, accusing her of stealing more than $350,000 from the service organization.

Charging documents filed Wednesday in King County Superior Court accuse 48-year-old Susan Kinney of writing checks to herself and others out of the foundation’s account between 2003 and 2008.

If convicted, she faces nearly five years in prison.

The charges include 78 counts of first-degree theft and 45 counts of second- degree theft.

Court documents quote police as saying the theft wasn’t discovered until a bookkeeper from an accounting firm noticed discrepancies in Rotary records.
