Harried working moms would rather quit the full-time gig

A new report indicates most working moms would prefer to work part-time

Posted at 11:11 am

There's a new report out that says out loud what most of us working mothers secretly yearn for inside: most of us working mothers would rather not work full time.

“The Harried Life of the Working Mother” was released Oct. 1 from the Pew Research Center and looks at a bunch of issues affecting working mothers, such as day care, gender roles, stress levels and family satisfaction.

The big finding in the report shows that of all working mothers, 62 percent said they would prefer to work part time, that left 37 percent of working moms preferring to work full time. And here's a key indicator of the stress some working mothers feel every day -- only 13 percent of moms who work full time say having a mother who works full time is the ideal situation for a young child.

So take a moment when you are not so harried and read the report Fascinating stuff.
