Arlington: State settles on roundabout
State Department of Transportation engineers have decided that a roundabout is the best solution for improving safety and relieving congestion at the Highway 9 and Highway 531 intersection in Arlington.
Department officials heard from truck drivers, people who live nearby and business owners at an open house in July.
People offered their comments on the roundabout proposal and a proposed improved traffic signal.
We really looked at the pros and cons of each option and found that the roundabout provides the greatest safety and congestion benefits for the longest period of time, project manager Jason Koreski said in a press release.
Construction on the new $15.6 million roundabout is scheduled to begin in 2011.

Marysville: Sewer line on agenda
A proposal to replace 525 feet of sewer pipeline along the Sixth Street alley in downtown Marysville is among the agenda items for the City Council on Monday.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave.
If the council gives the go-ahead to the $101,150 project, crews would replace the aging sewer pipe with a PVC line.
Storm water improvements and repaving of the alleyway would be part of the work.
