Playing catch-up: Boeing hears from business leaders, statewide jobless rate rises and R-71 in court and in Lynnwood

Posted at 10:55 am by Jerry Cornfield

Here's a round-up of items you might have missed.

Herald Aerospace Writer Michelle Dunlop posted a letter to Boeing Co. from big names in the world of Washingto business. The message is please put the second 787 production line in this state.

Also this morning, Dunlop wrote on today's release of unemployment data that show jobless totals on the rise. In Snohomish County, home of The Herald, the rate broke the double-digit mark in September.

Referendum 71 is earning a bit of attention in the last few days with the "reject" forces rallying Saturday in Lynnwood and the "approve" forces marching Sunday in Seattle.

Today I wrote on how names of petition signers probably won't get posted before the election because of the lawsuit aimed at keeping the identities secret. The case gets a hearing Wednesday in California.

Also today, I cribbed a bit on a forum filled with passion held Monday niight at Edmonds Community College.

Unfortunately I failed to give props to D.J. Wilson, host and moderator of the hourlong program that wil air several times before the election.
