The stadium has been home to the Class A minor-league franchise since 1984. The school board approved the seven-year extension last week. “Over the years, the AquaSox have been incredibly valuable school district and community partners,” Mike Gunn, the district’s executive director of facilities and operations, said in a statement released by the AquaSox. “Not only do their games benefit the local economy and provide recreational activities, the facility improvements they make possible give our students a play field that meets the highest standards.” In addition to the AquaSox, whose season runs from mid-June to early September, the field is used by high school, college and community teams.
