Search resumes for missing pilot from Lake Roesiger
Herald Staff
OLYMPIA — After a rain delay Wednesday, the search for a missing pilot continued Thursday in the southwest corner of the state.
Search teams in six planes took to the skies late Thursday in the ongoing effort to find Gordon Last, 51, of Lake Roesiger.
Last took off Saturday afternoon from Harvey Field in Snohomish and hasn't returned.
He may have landed his 63-year-old plane in Westport on Saturday, walked into town and then took off for the northeast, said Nisha Marvel, a state Department of Transportation Aviation Division spokeswoman.
Search teams focused on Snohomish County for the first three days and then moved south after they learned of the possible stop in Westport, she said.
Witness accounts and a radar track led searchers to the area between Shelton and Westport on Wednesday, Marvel said.
Rain forced a delay Wednesday afternoon, but teams resumed the search Thursday until dark.
Crews are expected to keep up the search through the weekend, relatives of the missing man said.
Anyone who may have information on the missing plane is asked to e-mail missingaircraft@wsdot.wa.gov or call 360-410-0461.
