Search for missing Lake Roesiger pilot halted

SHELTON — Rescue crews on Monday suspended the search for Lake Roesiger pilot missing since Oct. 10.

Gordon Last, 51, boarded his 1946 Taylorcraft Taildragger at Harvey Field in Snohomish and hasn’t returned.

His plane was not equipped with a transponder or emergency locator beacon, and he filed no flight plan, making the search extremely difficult.

Last’s family hopes hunters will eventually come across his plane, said David Last, the missing man’s brother.

Volunteer pilots canvassed Snohomish County until witness accounts last week led crews to focus on the area between Shelton and Westport.

The search area grew to about 1,900 square miles, covering Grays Harbor County, the southeast corner of Thurston County and a small piece of northwest Lewis County.

The two-seater plane is painted white with red and gray wing tips.

Anyone with information is asked to e-mail missingaircraft@wsdot.wa.gov or call 360-410-0461.
