Read All About It: Events at libraries and book stores

Right turn: David Neiwert, author of “The Eliminationists,” will talk about his book, in which he discusses the effects of right-wing hate talk, at 7 p.m. Thursday at Lincoln Theatre in Mount Vernon.

Neiwert will sign copies of the book, which lists at $16.95. A $5 donation is requested. The theater is at 712 S. First St. Call 360-336-8955 for information.

Glorious food: See the film “Good Food,” which looks at the development of a sustainable food system in the Northwest, at 7 p.m. Monday at Stanwood High School Performing Arts Center.

Melissa Young, who co-directed the film, will introduce this event sponsored by the Stanwood Library.

Zombie makeover: The Oak Harbor Library will hold an undead party for teens from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday. Arrive dressed in your Halloween best for food and games, or come at 6:30 for a zombie makeup session.

Puppet performance: Have a pack of ghosts and goblins too excited to wait for trick-or-treating? While away the lo-o-o-ng day with a performance by Clay Martin’s puppets with the story of Jack the Giant-Killer at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mountlake Terrace Library.

Kids in costume are welcome to this free event intended for school-age youngsters.

Very scary, kids: More vampires to tantalize teens. Third Place Books will have a reading of “Tempted,” book six of the House of Night novels by the mother-daughter writing team P.C. and Kristin Cast, at 7 p.m. Thursday. Arrive at 6 for a party with treats. “Tempted” will be released Tuesday and lists at $17.99.
