Bare baristas: County may apply lewd-conduct laws EVERETT — Snohomish County officials expect to take a closer look at the county's lewd-conduct laws next month as a way to cut down on offensive behavior at drive-through coffee stands.A draft ordinance from County Councilman Dave Gossett follows other laws that have passed in Everett and Lynnwood aiming to restrict lewd conduct in public. The proposed law is scheduled for discussion at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 9. Scheduled for discussion at the same time is a draft law from Council Chairman Mike Cooper that would classify stands where employees show too much skin as adult entertainment. The County Council hopes to schedule a meeting for public comment on the laws in December, Cooper said. |

If you think they are so great let one open next to your home. I'm sure that after acouple days you will be asking for some kind if rules.. I have small children and have to drive past them and in morning traffic i have been stuck just outside there stand on 99 just off 112th. and these girls are coming out of there booths to take orders in there panties and only pasties.. so yeah they need rules.. it was nice just after all of this started they put up mirror tint over the windows on the street side but with all you guys say hey they have right also they do yes but they also need to respect other people and remember that during traffic time small children can see them.. So if they would have been alittle smarter from the start and not only thinking about the mighty $$$$$ they might have all this trouble now.. so yes I will be at that meeting asking they they put some kind of tint over the street side glass......

Call and complain that Marijuana is not legal in Everett. You want it legal. According to Everett City Council's actions they will aprove this if more then 50 people complain. They will change laws to meet the needs of the few acording to there own actions.
They have no problem changing or adding laws if only 50 people complain. So here you go...

Would this ban on women wearing bikinis include beaches?
Would all women be banned from wearing bikinis at any time?
If women are allowed to wear bikinis on the beach then what would happen if a Bikini coffee hut is opened on a beach, would women then be banned from getting a coffee from the hut?
What if it is a topless male barista? Would he be required to wear a cover for his chest or would pasties be acceptable? Would he be allowed to wear a thong?
Will the police be issued with calibrated measuring instruments to confirm compliance and be trained in their correct use?
Personally if there is a new position opened up in local Government to go around checking the square inch of bare flesh I will be the first to volunteer my services and bring my own calibrated measuring stick!

What a ridiculous non-issue this is. For goodness's sake, if you're opposed to these businesses then by all means feel free to avoid them.
I'm disappointed to see Mr. Cooper jumping on this bandwagon. We have far more pressing issues to contend with than accommodating puritanical moralizers and their embarrassing sexual hang-ups.

How many people does this really bother?
You have to wonder if it's a clubhouse game of the local Christian Taliban trying to flex their muscle. I have a feeling that with the right organization we could get a lot more than nine people to complain about the activities of these xtian con artists.
No one in the history of the human race has ever been hurt by the mere sight of the healthy human form. It's skin, people.
I wish all the Christo-fascists that are the vocal ones behind all this would just find themselves and move to Afghanistan where they would appratly be in heaven. Your spiritual brothers are waiting!Go live in a place where they beat and sometimes kill women for exposing any part of themselves!

First let me say that I don't like the idea of what these girls are doing or what they're wearing that being said let's open our eyes and realize that the owners have hired them for the exact purpose of turning on the males in our communities and in doing so they sell more of their wares, besides themselves.
The ones that don't do prostitute themselves are also wearing the risky attire, I'd say clothes but what they're wearing isn't classified as clothing.
The owners knew these girls, 18 or not, would dress this way to get better tips, because they can't make drinks to save their lives, and to draw males in. That is their pupose to draw men in and that is the main purpose.
You don't see the Starbucks girls dressed like prostitutes, these girls have respect for themselves and their bodies and the establishment doesn't require them to dress that way either. It's a place where they actually make the drinks very well and they don't flaunt themselves in the process.
Make every bikini hut an adult entertainment place, that's what they are, that's all I'm saying. Of course enforcing the new laws, ha ha ha who are we kidding, most cops are men and they enjoy these places themselves I've seen that.

Bare Baristas, hmm, ok idea here. If these places have workers in them wearing such clothing, without warning them that they can be hurt by being being burned by hot coffee then the owner has acted in a non responcable manner. And have placed workers at risk even allowing them to wear such clothing.
This should be signed by employee the day of hire of the potential dangers. Period.
Does not State law requires business owner to notify employee of potential dangers?
If owner/employer did not, is it not a 7,000.00 fine for each business place not in compliance with state law.
My opinion, which does not mean anything...
Clothing should cover up like a t-shirt on the top, and 3 inches up from center of kneecap, shorts or skirt. This will help prevent hot food or drink from landing on a exposed area of skin. Shoes are another danger, thongs, sandles, these can potentially be a danger also, as many times as I have dropped boiling hot water on my feet I am so glad I wore proper shoes and clothing. It did not take long to kick shoe off let me tell ya.. But I did not get a major burn, open skin, well I would of been burned plain and simple.
You know what OSHA.gov is?
Now you have a few ways to deal with this issue, now go do it.

One has to keep in mind, the so-called "successful" philosophy used by Lynnwood police is through threat. Threatening businesses to pull over every customer UNLESS said business changes its way.
Lynnwood, through their Gestapo (police) have used this tactic very successfully for years. It is part of their heart & soul.
Has the Herald EVER looked into that? If you do, beware, the city will ban your paper ----i assume they have made such threats in past.
As for BARE Barista's, well... LYNNWOOD solved the problem, using their police. How about the Herald do some REAL investigation as to how that was exactly accomplished?
