T-birds winless

Shorewood had plenty of good plays in its non-conference game against Glacier Peak. The problems was that the Thunderbirds weren't able to string many of them together.

Senior quarterback Zack Richter three for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Grizzlies to a 52-0 rout over Shorewood Oct. 23 at Shoreline Stadium.

“Our kids gave a great effort,” said Shorewood coach Andrew Hershey. “Unfortunately I think for whatever reason we haven't been able to put together two good plays. We had a lot of good plays on Friday. They were just too spread out. When we can put then back-to-back, that's what we're trying to do.”

Shorewood (0-5 in the league, 0-8 overall) had some decent drives but wasn't able to sustain them. There were times when the Thunderbirds gained eight to 10 yards on first down but then they went backward on second down, Hershey said.

Shorewood's struggles on offense enabled Glacier Peak (2-1, 6-2) to start many of their drives in good field position.

“That obviously didn't help our defense at all,” Hershey said. “They have a pretty good strike quick offense. It's a pretty impressive program. You can tell just by watching them. They are a very organized program from top to bottom. Every kid understands their role.”

Shorewood faces Edmonds-Woodway at 7 p.m,, Friday Oct. 23 at Shoreline Stadium. The Warriors upset Cascade 28-7 last week.

“I'm looking to get better,” Hershey said. “I'm looking for improvement, for putting more plays together. We're looking to be competitive.”
