Deputies were called around 9 a.m. to a home in the 19100 block of 18th Ave. W., Snohomish County sheriff’s Capt. Dave Bales said. “The caller indicated that he thought his brother was dead,” Bales said. A California man, 61, who was visiting the area, told deputies that he’d recently argued with his brother and the dispute may have escalated to gunfire. The argument reportedly occurred Monday. The caller spoke with a thick accent that made it difficult for 911 dispatchers to understand the man. During a search of the property, deputies found a man dead in the back yard, Bales said. The caller was arrested. Major crime detectives were summoned and a homicide investigation was launched. The dead man’s identity wasn’t immediately released, and it wasn’t clear when he died. The Snohomish County medical examiner was expected to conduct an autopsy. Detectives spent much of the day Wednesday collecting evidence from the home, Bales said. The cul-de-sac was blocked by yellow police tape as investigators worked, but officials did not believe neighbors were in danger.
