BRIER — In the only contested City Council race, candidates Dennis J. Nick and Mike Gallagher both tap fiscal responsibility as their top priority should they win election.
Both are running for Position 3 on the council.
Nick, who is running for re-election, said the city needs to be careful with tax dollars and avoid overburdening people who live in Brier. He wants to build upon the progress the council has made over the past four years.
“Being part of this progress has been very rewarding to me,” he said. “The idea of a team of individuals with like minds and with the best interest for our city and citizens working together was our goal.”
Maintaining the rural atmosphere of Brier and continuing to work on the parks master plan are additional top priorities for Nick, should he become elected for a second term.
Gallagher said he entered the council race is to become more directly involved with his local government.
“My priorities are to help find ways to make sure our city remains in good fiscal condition during these troubling economic times and to help maintain the flavor of our community,” Gallagher said.
Marc Olson and Martin L. Krienke are running unopposed for the council.
Mayor Bob Colinas is running unopposed for his position.
