High winds could bring problems to Snohomish, Island counties

A strong cold front is expected to bring high winds to the Island County and the Snohomish County coastline tonight and may cause some power outages.

Gusts as high as 55 mph are forecast through 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters issued a wind advisory this morning, warning that winds likely will be strong enough to uproot some trees and could make driving treacherous.

The winds are expected to taper Saturday, but showers remain in the forecast.
