NFL INJURY REPORT: Texans lose TE Daniels, maybe for season

The Houston Texans' offense lost Owen Daniels on Sunday, and the star tight end feared his season might be over after hurting his right knee on Sunday.

Daniels, who entered the game leading NFL tight ends with 497 yards receiving, said he's scheduled to have tests on Monday to determine the severity of the injury.

"It doesn't look good," Houston coach Gary Kubiak said. "Obviously, (trainers) feel like he may have done some damage. I better be careful, but it does not look good."

Daniels was hurt on Houston's second possession when he was running a route and caught his foot in the turf. He said it's possible a defender bumped or grabbed him just as he was making his cut. He went down and lay on the field for several minutes before he was helped up by Texans trainers and unable to put any weight on his right leg.

His injury is potentially a big blow to an offense that has been among the NFL's best this season, and is a setback for a team that's off to a franchise-best 5-3 start. Daniels entered the game leading Houston with 39 catches and five touchdowns.

In Glendale, Ariz., Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme went down on a big hit from the Cardinals' Chike Okeafor and Darnell Dockett with 5:59 left in the third quarter.

He came back to play the next series but was replaced by Matt Moore in the fourth quarter of the Panthers' 34-21 win at Arizona.

Delhomme said after returning from the hospital that the injury was a chest contusion and that no serious problem was detected.

Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin also left the game, in the third quarter after aggravating his sprained right ankle.

Boldin, who had been questionable for the game, was helped from the field with 8:53 to play in the third. Before he left, he caught two passes to pass Larry Centers and become the Cardinals' career leader in receptions.

The 49ers' makeshift offensive line may have sustained another devastating blow when left tackle Joe Staley went down on the first play of the game. The 49ers are already without right tackle Tony Pashos for the rest of the season.

San Francisco coach Mike Singletary said Staley sprained his right knee and cornerback Nate Clements had a bruised right shoulder.

Also, Baltimore defensive tackle Haloti Ngata left the Ravens' 30-7 win over Denver with a sprained ankle, but X-rays were negative.
