Edgerrin James released

The Seahawks released running back Edgerrin James this week, one of several roster moves to take place in the last two days.

The Seahawks also parted ways yesterday with S C.J. Wallace, who has been out with a hamstring injury, and cornerback Travis Fisher. They have added receiver Mike Hass, safety Jamar Adams and cornerback Roy Lewis, all of whom were on the practice squad.

James, who the Seahawks signed in August after releasing T.J. Duckett, rushed for 125 yards on 26 carries serving as a backup to Julius Jones this season. James, 31, moved past Marcus Allen into 10th place on the all-time NFL rushing list in the Seahawks loss in Dallas.

The addition of Hass may indicate that receiver Ben Obomanu's oblique injury will require him to miss some time. If Hass plays, it would mostly be in a special team's role.

James' release could possibly mean carries for Louis Rankin, a former UW running back the Seahawks signed to their practice squad in late Sept.
