Police found someone taking target practice in an area outside of the city limits but near the school, city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said. Target shooting in the county is legal, she said. “It happens this time of year because hunters are practicing before they go out,” Banfield said. “It’s a good thing that someone called 911 just as a precaution.” School district spokeswoman Misti Gilman said all staff and students are safe.
