Large motorcade to honor slain officer

SEATTLE — Police are expecting more than 1,000 law enforcement vehicles Friday to participate in a motorcade honoring slain Seattle police officer and Marysville resident Tim Brenton.

Brenton, 39, was shot Saturday in the Leschi neighborhood. No arrests have been made.

A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at KeyArena.

The motorcade is scheduled Friday morning and will make its way from Husky Stadium through Seattle to the Key Arena.

A reward for information on the killing was raised Wednesday to $105,000, the Seattle Police Guild announced. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or Seattle police at 206-233-5000. Anonymous calls also can be made to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).

A fund has been set up for Brenton’s family. Donations may be made at any Bank of America branch under the “Brenton Family Assistance Fund.”
