Gail Neil featured in ESO benefit

Singer Gail Neil had decided she would extend her singing engagement in town beyond her Friday night concert to help out the Everett Symphony in its mission to spread music throughout the community and especially to youths.

Neil is the guest singer as the Everett Symphony holds a showcase benefit concert. Other guests include some of the area’s talented youth vocalists from the Northwest Savoyards musical production of “Oliver.”

All proceeds from the concert will go to help the symphony preserve symphonic music and help schools keep music in the lives of children and youth. Performance halls are donated and the performers are donating all or a portion of their time and talent.

Mezzo soprano Neil is familiar to audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest and is recognized for her vocal and dramatic versatility. She has been a featured soloist with symphony orchestras, chorales, ballet and opera companies, in addition to her performances as a concert recitalist.

“The Showcase Benefit Concert” is at 3 p.m. Saturday at New Life Center, 6830 Highland Drive, Everett. Single tickets are $20. Call 800-595-4849 or go to www.everettsymphony.org.
