Arlington’s senior quarterback threw for three touchdowns and ran for another, to lead his Eagles to the 29-7 non-conference football win over Cascade. Smith completed 15 of 28 attempts for 268 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the game. His touchdown passes went for 53, 32 and eight yards, to Conner Varnell, Brandon Pierce and Jake Parduhn, respectively. In the second quarter Smith ran for a 5-yard touchdown, assuring he would be involved in all four of the Eagles’ touchdowns. Aaron Miller ran the ball 17 times for 146 yards to lead Cascade. Larry Bruce broke a 47-yard run to account for the Bruins’ lone touchdown. With the win Arlington improved it’s record to 5-5, while Cascade dropped to 6-4 after the defeat. Edmonds-Woodway 59, Oak Harbor 0: At Edmonds, Jimmy Spears led a potent Edmonds-Woodway rushing attack with 143 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries to help the Warriors to the non-conference win. Zack Berg had six carries for 106 yards and two touchdowns and Gus Carstens added 97 yards and two touchdowns on his two carries to Edmonds-Woodway’s total of 365 rushing yards. Mariner rushed for 316 total yards, and recovered two Snohomish fumbles. Monroe 20, Shorecrest 14: At Shoreline, after falling behind 14-0 early, Cody Elledge led the charge back returning a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown to begin a run of 20 unanswered points for Monroe in the Bearcats’ non-conference win. Elledge also caught a 56 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Anthony DiMaggio, who ran for a seven yard touchdown himself. Shorecrest 3-7. King’s 42, Friday Harbor 15: At Shoreline, King’s junior wide receiver/cornerback Curtis Clauson scored five of the Knights’ six touchdowns in the Class 1A playoff victory. Clauson caught three touchdown passes from quarterback Thomas Vincent. Clauson also returned an interception 43 yards for a score and ran a fumble recovery back 69 yards for a touchdown. King’s next hosts the winner of today’s Onalaska-Kalama game at a date and time to be determined. Concrete 35, Darrington 0: At Darrington, Concrete defeated Darrington in the 1A District playoff game, clinching the second seed from the Northwest 2B league for the state playoffs. Concrete (4-2 league, 6-4 overall) was led by Kyler Howell, who had three touchdowns and 138 of Concrete’s 359 total rushing yards. The wet, muddy field affected Darrington (2-4, 5-5), which fumbled the ball 10 times, losing four. Concrete begins play in the state tournament on Thursday. Girls soccer Everett 3, Mt. Vernon 0: At Mt. Vernon, Everett’s Annie Sittauer scored the Seagulls’ first two goals with assists from Makaela Nellams and Kylie Beeson, respectively, and Morgan McCarty (Maddie Taylor assist) scored Everett’s third goal to help advance Everett in the playoffs. Katie Johnson earned the shutout in goal for Everett. The Seagulls play Glacier Peak 2 p.m., Saturady, at Mt. Vernon in a winner-to-state, loser-out game. Granite Falls 2, Bellingham 1: At Duvall, Granite Falls’ Katyann Powers scored unassisted in the 21st minute, and Kaitlyn Howell tacked on another goal in the 33rd minute (Powers assist), and the two senior captains powered the Tigers past Bellingham and into a loser-out, winner-to-state game against Cedarcrest. Bellingham’s Jade Thurston scored in the 41st minute. Courtney Young was Granite Falls’ goalie and Hanna Wade was in goal for Bellingham. Granite Falls’ next game is at 1 p.m., Saturday at Cedarcrest. The Red Wolves defeated the Tigers twice this season by a one goal margin in each contest. Volleyball Shorecrest 3, Lynnwood 0: At Shoreline, Elisa Ahern had 10 kills, Casey Axelson had 22 assists, and Shorecrest swept Lynnwood 26-24, 25-9, 25-11 to advance in the 3A District 1 tournament. Jessika Barlow had seven digs and seven kills, and Kelsey Parker had 11 digs for Lynnwood. Shorecrest will need to win its next two matches to earn a berth to state, with its next game noon Saturday at Ferndale versus Ferndale. King’s 3, Charles Wright 0: At Shoreline, King’s won its first match in the 1A Tri-District volleyball tournament, defeating Charles Wright in straight games 25-9, 25-9, 25-11. Anna Cesari had 36 assists and Dionna Kirton had nine kills to lead the Knights (15-2 overall), who face Anne Wright (3-0 winners over Orting) in their next match.
