Fire destroys Silver Lake landmark

EVERETT – An early morning fire destroyed Emory's Restaurant on the shores of Silver Lake.

By the time firefighters were summoned around 4:20 a.m., flames already were bursting through the landmark's roof, officials said.

As the fight against the fire progressed, alarms summoned extra crews. By the time the flames were knocked down, it was a three-alarm emergency.

Emory Cole, the restaurant's owner and namesake, called the blaze unbelievable.

“It's devastating,” Cole said. “You just never think this is going to happen to you.”

As the sun rose, only the last stubborn flames could be seen in the burnt-out structure of the building.

The restaurant's sign promised a Thanksgiving dinner, but Cole said he was more worried about Christmas for his 50 employees.

The restaurant appears to be a total loss.

Fire investigators have not yet determined what sparked the blaze.

So Sad
We are saddened by this loss. Emory's was our first date and my husband and I still talk about that meal we had 10 years ago. Since then it has been our favorite restaurant for work and family. Please rebuild. Our thoughts and prayers to owners and staff.

Please rebuild!
Emory's has been a favorite of mine and my husband's since we lived across the street! Best happy hour around, and a wonderful staff! If you rebuild it, we'll be back!!!

Silver Lake Restaurant
Dear Emory: I feel so bad, and yes your great place of business has always held a soft spot in my heart. When not living in the NW, I often thought of and remembered TGIF, on the deck in the summer. And family/friend meals on other occassions. The food was great, the prices fine, and the staff friendly. The bar facing the water was a NW treat. I would often bring out of town guests who were very impressed. I feel badly for the ownership and the staff. REBUILD!!, I'll be back.....

Can't believe it...
I just drove by there and saw the damage (hadn't seen the news of it) and was just stunned. I certainly hope they rebuild because I look forward to dining there again soon!

Traffic
Just a little FYI, traffic is now free flowing at this time. Officers still had the road blocked off in both directions around 7am, but as of 8:15am things were running smooth again.

Sad to see this landmark burn down. I too, hope the owners rebuild.

Emory memories
I could hardly believe Emory's was on fire! I watched on KOMO 4 news this morning. My family has been dining at Emory's since it opened, it's one of our favorite restaurants. I feel so sorry for the people that work there and have lost a job, especially in this economy. I sure hope the owners rebuild, I'll look forward to dining at Emory's again!
