Six people injured in Machias car crash

MACHIAS — Six people were hurt early on Sunday after the car they were in struck a pole.

A newspaper carrier called 911 about 4 a.m. when she saw a car that had hit a utility pole in the 15700 block of Dubuque Road, Snohomish County Fire District 4 Battalion Chief Craig Heike said. Fire crews from around the area were summoned.

Three of the six young people in the car suffered critical injuries, others were hurt less seriously.

Two of the victims were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Heike said.

The collision caused power to go out in nearby homes, he said. Police were investigating the crash.
