Judge chili on Camano Island: The 14th annual Chili Chowder Cook Off is offered from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Camano Senior & Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Rd.

Admission is $10 per person.

Flags honor soldier: To honor U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer Michael Montgomery of Redmond, Gov. Chris Gregoire says flags at state buildings should be lowered to half-staff today.

Montgomery was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.
