County Council plans public meeting on restricting risque baristas
Herald staff
EVERETT Two proposals for restricting offensive behavior at drive-through coffee stands have been scheduled for a public hearing with the Snohomish County Council next month.
The meeting is set for 10:30 a.m. Dec. 2.
The draft ordinances would affect businesses in unincorporated Snohomish County. One would strengthen the countys lewd-conduct laws. Another would force any adult-oriented businesses to adhere to special county licensing regulations.
The second law, which has been changed from previous versions, would apply not only to coffee stands, but to any retail business where employees are nude or partially nude while selling retail goods. A sexually suggestive sign could be grounds to qualify a business as adult.
Take Action Snohomish County, a group that supports tougher government action against risque coffee stands, is supporting both proposed ordinances, organizer Shahram Hadian said.
