Death on Edmonds waterfront ruled a suicide

EDMONDS -- Police believe a man who died Tuesday morning on the Edmonds waterfront likely shot himself.

Officers and medics were summoned to Brackett’s Landing on Main Street about 10:30 a.m. after someone reported hearing a gunshot, Edmonds police Sgt. Mike Blackburn said. They found a 66-year-old man with a wound to his head. He died at the scene.

Witnesses told police the man had been sitting on a log at the beach for about three hours before the gunfire. Police found evidence that he took his own life. Nobody else was hurt and no one was nearby.
