Mike Tyson held after airport altercation

LOS ANGELES — Former boxer Mike Tyson was detained at Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday after an altercation.

A law enforcement source said Tyson and an unidentified photographer traded accusations about the altercation. Los Angeles airport police are interviewing Tyson and the photographer.

The source said Tyson told investigators that the photographer struck him in an apparent attempt to provoke him. The photographer told investigators that Tyson punched him in the face and tried to take the film from his camera, according to the source.

Both men wanted to press battery charges against the other, so police placed both under arrest, the source said.

The photographer was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries to his face.
